Latest Christina Anstead News Updates...

There are a lot of social media comments about the recent breakup of Ant & Christina Anstead. There are those who support Christina's decision, while others think she should try to make the marriage work for the sake of her child.  I personally feel that Christina may just need some space to sort things out. She has been through two divorces in a very short period of time. That alone is enough to take some time out for yourself. Also, let's not forget that in addition to dealing with the divorce, she also has three kids and a tv show.  I hope the marriage can be salvaged, but right now the most thing for Christina is self-care.  Below is an article round-up of the latest Christina Anstead updates... Latest Updates on a Second Stimulus Package...

Pelosi made appearances on several news shows over the past weekend. One of the topics she focused on was a second stimulus bill.  Pelosi feels strongly that a new stimulus deal can be reached before the election. One of the reasons she feels more confident now than in the past, is that the democrats have agreed to trim down their stimulus proposal to appease the republicans. She hopes that by doing this a new deal can be reached quickly, and signed by the president at the end of next week.  There are also some politicians who support Mark Cuban's stimulus proposal. Not sure if his proposal will appeal to republicans or the president -- but it definitely appeals to most average working Americans.  Mnuchin and Powell have stated that there is billions of dollars of unused aid that could be re-allocated for a second stimulus package. How can so much money just be laying around when there are so many in need? For further details on the above, checkout the articles below... Which Polit

TIDBITS: Christina Anstead, new book "Sex With Presidents" & a new Netflix series starring a Deaf Student

Below is my weekly article round-up of what's going on in the entertainment industry. There is a new book out called "Sex With Presidents".  The book highlights the affairs of several presidents that include Franklin Roosevelt and Lyndon B. Johnson. Some of these affair details may not surprise you, but they sure did surprise me.  Christina Anstead speaks about her divorces. First, I want to say I am sorry that her marriage didn't work out. I just hope this time she takes a break from dating and marriage and just focus on business and raising her kids. Lastly, there is a new Netflix docuseries called Deaf U. The series highlights the life of a deaf college student. This sounds very interesting -- will definitely be checking this one out.  More details below... How to Update Your Resume & Job Searching Tips During a Pandemic

Thousands of people have been out of work for months due to furloughs or layoffs -- which has resulted in gaps of employment on their resume.  Recruiters sometimes view gaps in employment as a "red flag" when screening job candidates. They view the gaps as a candidate potentially be unreliable and not looking for a long term work commitment.  That may have been the case "BEFORE" 2020. This year has been so unpredictable and crazy, that having an employment gap on your resume almost seems normal. Below are some good tips and resources on how to job search during the pandemic.  This is exactly how to update your resume if you’ve been laid off during COVID-19 https://www.theladders.com/career-advice/this-is-exactly-how-to-update-your-resume-if-youve-been-laid-off-during-covid-19 SOURCE:  Kay Schnitzer, The Ladders Tips From a Recruiter: Standing Out to Hiring Managers During COVID-19 https://www.indeed.com/career-advice/resumes-cover-letters/covid-19-resume-tips-from-a

How To Transfer Your Job Skills & Re-evaluate Your Career

Knowing how to transfer your job skills has never been more important than now.  The pandemic has caused thousands of people to lose their jobs -- which has resulted in many re-evaluating careers options and skills.  A friend of mine, Kari, recently lost her job as a financial analyst for a major bank. Finding a job in the banking industry right now is really competitive because so many banks are downsizing. Although my friend is sending out resumes daily, she knows that finding a similar position at the same pay rate is going to be tough. In order to generate income, Kari is targeting freelance and contract opportunities. So far she has been able to secure a six-month contract position with a major non-profit.  If you are interested in knowing how to transfer your job skills, below are some articles that provide good advice and tips.   7 Tips For How To Job Search During The Coronavirus Pandemic https://www.forbes.com/sites/rogerma/2020/04/23/7-tips-for-how-to-job-search-during-the-co

NEWS TIDBITS: Looks Like NO Stimulus Bill Before the Election

Despite the thousands of people still unemployed and on the brink of eviction, Congress still has not made any progress towards passing a second stimulus bill. It looks like both Republicans and Democrats have forgotten their oath to serve the people they represent. While I understand their focus about the upcoming election, the American people who are in need should be their major concern and priority.  Even some top CEO's are asking Congress to pass a stimulus bill before the election. Congress won't listen to the American people, maybe they'll listen to a CEO. We will see... Below are articles that highlight the chances of a stimulus bill getting passed before the election... NEWS TIDBITS: Small Businesses Need Help & Kudlow Says No Stimulus Needed

Small businesses are calling on Congress to pass a 'stand-alone' bill that will help them maintain their business and keep employees on the payroll. Hopefully, Steve Mnuchin can persuade Larry Kudlow that the country does need another stimulus package. As of yesterday, Kudlow seem convinced that another stimulus package is not needed for an economic recovery in the US. What world does he live in? NEWS TIDBITS: Landlords Get Help Evicting Tenants & No Government Shutdown

Good News! Looks like there won't be a government shutdown after all.  Now the bad news. Economists are predicting a double-dip recession if a new stimulus bill is not passed. I'm sure no one is surprised by this. I recommend continue calling your state senators and representatives to get this bill passed.  Next on the agenda...I recently found out that there is a new startup called "Civvl" that helps landlords evict people who are behind on their rent. The company is currently posting ads for "eviction crews" across the country. Now I'm not against anyone starting a business, it's just that this is not the type of business I expected to see during these times. But, I guess when you think about it...there is definitely a market (unfortunately) for this type of service.  You can find more information on the above mentioned topics from the articles below... BREAKING: Pelosi, Mnuchin reportedly reach agreement to avert shutdown https://www.ajc.com/news/

NEWS TIDBITS: Stalled Stimulus Talks & Potential Government Shutdown

If you are waiting for a second stimulus check or extended unemployment benefits, you might be waiting for a few weeks or longer.  Based on several media reports, congress is currently debating if there should be a replacement for Ruth Bader Ginsburg before or after the election. This means that a new stimulus bill is not a top priority.  In addition, congress also has to agree on funding to prevent a government shutdown -- which may push stimulus negotiations back even further. Below are three articles that provide more insight into stimulus negotiations and a potential government shutdown. NEWS TIDBITS: More Stimulus Talks & The Expiration of Unemployment Benefits

This week it looks like stimulus talks are going to resume -- but the question is, will a bill be approved before the election?   A new stimulus package needs to be passed before November, because in many states expanded unemployment benefits are about to run out.  Trump moves closer to Pelosi in economic aid talks, and House speaker must decide next move https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-moves-closer-to-pelosi-in-economic-aid-talks-and-house-speaker-must-decide-next-move/ar-BB199HSY?ocid=msedgntp SOURCE:  Rachael Bade, Erica Werner - Washington Post Poverty groups brace for influx of need as extra unemployment benefits expire https://www.yahoo.com/money/poverty-groups-brace-for-influx-as-extra-unemployment-benefits-expire-203544453.html SOURCE:  Ben Werschkul, Yahoo Money Trump threw stimulus checks back into play and called for a large economic aid package — but Republicans still aren't backing more spending https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-threw-stimulus

The Netflix & Cuties Backlash

Netflix really seems to be getting some serious backlash from the docuseries "Cuties."  I have only seen a preview of the series, and based on what I saw I can see why some viewers would be upset.  There is so much sex abuse against children in today's society, and a show like this just seems to encourage it on another level -- which I'm sure is not the motive of Maïmouna Doucouré', creator of the show.  Below are articles regarding defending Cuties and the Netflix backlash... TikTok Fights Back...

No one is surprised that TikTok is suing the Trump administration for banning downloads of TikTok and WeChat apps.  I support the lawsuit filed by TikTok, because it will set a precedent for future attempted bans by a president. Think about it, if Trump is successful with this ban, future presidents may try to do the same thing to other companies they have a "personal" bias about.  Below are several articles related to the TikTok ban... Christina & Ant Split...Can't Believe it...

I can't believe that Christina and Ant Anstead have split. It seems like they just got married yesterday.  Not sure what caused the split, but I hope it was an amicable decision. How Will The US TikTok Ban Affect Influencers?

After I heard the news about the US banning TikTok & WeChat downloads, I couldn't help but wonder how this ban would affect TikTok influencers. I don't know that much about TikTok, but I am aware that there are thousands of influencers that use it to build their brand and following. For example, influencers like Loren Gray, Baby Ariel and Cash Baker have over 10 million followers (amazing). NEWS TIDBITS: Fraud and Unemployment Benefits

It's great to hear that more and more states are starting to issue supplemental unemployment benefits. It's not so great to hear that there are scammers out there stealing millions of dollars from state unemployment systems. I have read stories where people who have been unemployed since March, have not received any unemployment benefits. How can they survive?  Especially those with children. That's why it is so frustrating to hear that some state unemployment systems have been hacked and millions of dollars have been stolen.  I am sure that cybersecurity systems have been installed in most cases. However, it still is not enough because unfortunately, hackers are getting more and more sophisticated in terms of hacking technology.  Ohio begins issuing $300 supplemental unemployment benefits https://www.cleveland.com/datacentral/2020/09/ohio-begins-issuing-300-supplemental-unemployment-benefits.html SOURCE:   Rich Exner, cleveland.com Some States Are Now Providing 6 Weeks Of

NEWS TIDBITS: Employers Monitoring WFH Employees Performance

More people are working from home today due to the pandemic. As a result, employers are using technology and other means to monitor employee productivity.  I had no idea that this was being done. IKEA Delays...

I've seen a lot of complaints online recently about delivery delays from IKEA. I have to say I am surprised. Each time I have ordered from IKEA my items have arrived on time. However, I will admit that I have not ordered from them since the COVID outbreak.  From what I am reading, it is taking anywhere from 3 weeks to over a month to receive an order. That's crazy! Other customers have said that at times you can't even order on the IKEA website and that it takes forever to get a refund. Not sure what is going on at IKEA, but I am guessing they are having a hard time delivering orders because their product sources have been impacted by COVID.  Below are articles that provide more insight into what some IKEA customers are experiencing... CDC Director Robert Redfield is saying that wearing a "mask" may be more effective than a "vaccine" in preventing coronavirus. I'm not sure what to make of this. My Friend Quit Her Job Due to Stress & COVID

The unemployment rate is still pretty high. Thousands of people have been furloughed or laid off.  There are also people who are "voluntarily" leaving their jobs because they are afraid of contracting COVID.  Those who have made the decision to chose their health over their job are probably going to catch a lot of flack from people on the outside looking in. You see, these people will holler that those quitting their jobs are not scared of COVID, they are just lazy and want to collect those "enhanced" unemployment benefits.  In my view, some of the ones making the criticism don't want hospitality workers to quit because who will be there to check them out at the grocery store? Or make their hamburger and fries? They think people quitting their jobs are selfish, but they don't see their views as being selfish at all.  A former neighbor of mine, Rainia, has worked in the retail industry for the past 6 years. She started out as a clerk and worked her way up to

Being unemployed in a Pandemic

I have several friends and relatives who recently lost their jobs. Most are over 40 and have no idea how to re-start their careers. But before they can restart their career, they first must survive.  One friend, Tammie, who has worked as an executive assistant for the past 15 years, has been struggling to keep herself afloat now that her unemployment benefits have run out. Although she has a lot of experience, most of the companies she is applying to are looking for someone "younger" to fill the position. The crazy thing about this is, is that the "younger" applicants who are being interviewed for these positions don't have enough experience to successfully do the job. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why -- they're only 23 years old! How much experience do these employers think they have? In order to save money, Tammie sold her car, moved into a one bedroom apartment and sold some clothes on Ebay. Thankfully, she was "renting" the
