I thought Pelosi and Mnuchin were going to work out a stimulus deal by today. I was obviously wrong. The house has left for October recess without any deal between the house and senate. The election is early November, which only leaves a little time to work out an agreement.  One group that was hoping for a deal to be worked out this week, are airline workers. About 35,000 airline workers were laid off today. Another 10,000 will be either furloughed or laid off by the middle of the month. The meeting between Pelosi and Mnuchin didn't result in a stimulus bill agreement. So, Pelosi and the house just passed their own stimulus plan. This sounds good -- but it's not a done deal until it is approved by Trump and the republicans.  Speaking of republicans, I just found out that there are several republicans who voted no on a peaceful transition in the event Trump loses. As of today, there is still no stimulus deal.  Pelosi has been on social media tweeting that she spoke with Mnuchin yesterday for five hours. Even after this long conversation the two still couldn't come to an agreement.  On another topic, I did a little research and found out that Trump's Supreme Court nominee (Amy Coney Barrett) previously wrote a letter supporting the end of Roe v. Pelosi made appearances on several news shows over the past weekend. One of the topics she focused on was a second stimulus bill.  Pelosi feels strongly that a new stimulus deal can be reached before the election. One of the reasons she feels more confident now than in the past, is that the democrats have agreed to trim down their stimulus proposal to appease the republicans. She hopes that by doing this a new deal can be reached quickly, and signed by the president at the end of next week.  There are also some politicians who support Mark Cuban's stimulus proposal. Not sure if his proposal will appeal to republicans or the president -- but it definitely appeals to most average working Americans.  Mnuchin and Powell have stated that there is billions of dollars of unused aid that could be re-allocated for a second stimulus package.
